Rex Begonia

Among the various types of begonias, Begonia rex is one of the most beautiful and dramatic plants. Despite its exotic looks, Rex begonia plant is actually easy to grow. Because it’s a relatively short houseplant, Rex begonia is perfect for desks and tabletops where is wildly colorful, variegated foliage makes it a perfect contrast against other houseplants. Marked by dramatic colors – often a mix of green, pink or burgundy – the Rex Begonia can also include metallic shades of grayish silver. Always breathtaking to behold!

Rex begonia (Begonia rex-cultorum) is a semi-tropical perennial plant normally grown as an outdoor container plant or houseplant. Grow Rex begonia in a medium to bright spot as a houseplant. In Southern regions, it may benefit from a protection from direct sun during the heat of the day, but in Northern regions, some sun on the leaves presents no problem. Will tolerate dry air but prefer high humidity. Avoid misting, which can lead to problems with powdery mildew.

It can be challenging to find just the right conditions for rex begonia to display its best leaf color. Average home temperature of 65°F-75°F. If you’re comfortable, the Rex Begonia is comfortable.

Rex Begonias aren’t heavy feeders, so you can fertilize them as little as once or twice a year.

Basil, perhaps the most popular and widely used culinary basil herb. It is a tender annual, aromatic basil plant with a spicy odor and flavor. It grows 12-18 inches tall and foliage color can range from green to purple. Foliage size can vary from large lettuce-like leaves to very small leaves, half inch in size. It was apparently introduced to Europe from India in the late 1500s. There are several varieties of basil, but sweet basil is the most commonly grown, with more than 60 varieties to please the palates of those who love Italian, Indian, Greek, and Southeast Asian cuisines, among others.
